~Welcome to Stoney Beach Farm!

Thanks for stopping by! We are a family farm raising a variety of small fruits and vegetables on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan. With the tip of the peninsula crossing the 45th parallel we find ourselves on a unique stretch of land that juts out into Grand Traverse Bay nearly 22 miles. This particular geography makes it ideal for fruit growing and provides for scenic vistas overlooking east and west Grand Traverse Bay. It is also this particular geography that lends the farm its name: we have a stony beach.

We are dedicated to providing healthy food by raising quality small fruits and other produce without the use of synthetic chemical pesticides.

Our goals include:

Producing quality products vs. quantity
Healthy natural foods without unnatural residues and additives
Helping our soils reach self-sustaining nutrient status
Use of only natural biological and organic methods of pest control
Promote and preserve local agriculture
Enhance the environment through careful land use practices

While strawberries, raspberries, and tomatoes are our primary crops, we also raise a variety of vegetables. We are one of the few U-pick farms in the region and we offer a unique "ache free" strawberry picking experience. Our strawberries are grown vertically so you can pick standing up. We use a local licensed food producer to convert some of our fruit to premium "over the counter" specialties. Debuting this year, 2008, will be our Communty Supported Agricultre program, or CSA.
